Dementia Support Worker Contract Type: Fixed Term Location: Community based with some homeworking Salary: £20,,143 depending on skills and experience (London Allowance of £3,600 if applicable). Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. About the role 12 months with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, administration and delivery of CrISP (Carer Information and Support Programmes) and, working alongside an existing dementia support worker, will be responsible for some dementia support cases. The Carers Information and Support Programme provides information on all aspects of caring for a person with dementia in a group learning environment. CrISP aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of people caring for a person with dementia, by providing effective support and up-to-date and relevant inf ormation. Each programme is delivered to small groups of up to 12 people, and is delivered either online or face to face. Our Dementia Support service provides information, support and signposting to services for people with dementia and carers through information visits, support groups, information programmes and awareness raising activity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of the service in the Belfast Health and Social Care area, and will be the role manager for a team of volunteers who support the local services. The successful candidate will also be required to provide support as required with other services throughout Northern Ireland. About you We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of dementia as well good organisational and time management skills. It is also very important that you have excellent programme delivery and group facilitation skills. Your ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential to providing a valuable and worthwhile service. You will have strong skills written and verbal communication and, with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders and representing the needs of the organisation and clients. Working across health and social care with a range of professionals to develop the service in accordance with the needs of the people we support, you will need a good understanding of dementia and proven ability to work in collaboration with external partners, including statutory and voluntary agencies. As the Dementia Support Service reflects the needs of the people we support, you will be required to work some evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will work within the Belfast trust area. The role is community-based, meaning that the staff member will work from home or within the community as the role requires. The successful candidate will be eligible to claim mileage from the boundary of the trust area and travel within the trust area. If the successful candidate lives within the Belfast trust area, they will be eligible to claim travel within the trust area relating to the role. If the successful candidate lives outside the Belfast trust area, they will be eligible to claim travel within the trust area relating to the role only when they reach the trust boundary.
