About Department The Gastroenterology Department provides comprehensive clinical care, and undertakes research in, all fields of gastroenterology with a particular interest in chronic viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy, oesophageal disorders and functional gut disorders. About the Role An exciting opportunity exists for an IBD Biological Therapy Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Gastroenterology team on a part-time fixed-term basis due to parental leave backfill. The IBD Biological Therapy Clinical Nurse Consultant will be required to assess and coordinate the care of patients with inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in both and inpatient and outpatient setting, provide education and support to patients on disease and medical therapies and coordinate and monitor patients receiving biologic therapy for IBD during initiation and follow up phases of treatment. The IBD Biological Therapy Clinical Nurse Consultant will work as part of the multidisciplinary team caring for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and also autonomously alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team, using advanced nursing skills to assess and coordinate plans of care for an identified group of patients with complex and ongoing medical needs. Classifications for this position will range from classification range ZF4 ZG7 ($51.50 per hour). Duties * Coordinate the care of patients who contact the IBD helpline, as well as provide education and support * Educate, coordinate and monitor patients receiving biologic therapy for IBD during initiation and follow up phases of treatment * Educate patients on knowledge of disease and administration of treatments; * Coordinate Medicare applications and maintain a database for biologic therapy for IBD patients; * Participate in IBD ward rounds on a weekly basis Qualifications, Skills and Experience * Previous experience in gastroenterology is desirable but not essential * Undergraduate degree in general nursing, which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia * Current registration with AHPRA * High level of problem solving skills * Highly committed to excellence in patient care and willing to contribute to a challenging and constantly improving care delivery system.
