We have a fixed term contract opportunity for a Mental Health Recovery Worker to join us based in Tooting Bec, London. You will join us on a full-time, fixed term basis for 6 months and in return, you will receive a competitive rate of £9.30 per hour and some great employee benefits (after probation period has been completed). The Mental Health Recovery Worker hours of work are on a rota basis so might be any point between Monday - Sunday, working nights and days.

Servol Community Services is a charity providing person-centred support to adults affected by and recovering from mental health conditions in London. We have been established for over 40 years and proudly support people in accommodation that meets their support needs, including residential 24 hour staffed services and semi-supported accommodation. Key duties and responsibilities our of Mental Health Recovery Worker include:

  • Encourage service users to contribute fully to their support plan as provided by Servol Community Services by making informed choices
  • To support service users with personal administration, form filling and making benefit claims as necessary
  • To maintain daily contact with service users to check on their welfare and provide support as set out in their support plan
  • Encourage and support service users to take part in day time activities of interest to them including education, physical and voluntary activities
  • Liaise with external agencies (such as CPNs, Social Workers, Community Mental Health Teams etc.)
  • Encourage service users to feel able to contribute to the development of the service4
  • Provide information and support service users on issues of personal care and food hygiene
  • To assist and support service-users with activities such as shopping and attending appointments
  • Where required, to prompt or administer medication to agreed standards/in line with policy and procedure, reporting any issues as outlined in policy to senior staff
  • To support service users to take up any involvement opportunities on offer
  • Promote equality and diversity in your day to day work.

What we're looking for in ourMental Health Recovery Worker:

  • Care Certificate or level 1 in Health & Social Care or similar subject
  • Intermediate IT skills which must include Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Relevant experience of supporting vulnerable adults in a residential or day care setting
  • Relevant work experience and working knowledge of legislation and CQC key lines of enquiry
  • Effective and clear written communication skills in report writing, risk assessments and form completion
  • Able to demonstrate a positive and supportive attitude to working with people experiencing mental health conditions
