Mental Health Senior Support Worker - £22,073 - £24,280 per annum- £11.47- £12.62 per hour (Salaries vary depending on experiences)

Hours - 37 hours per week, Monday - Sunday, inclusive of bank holidays, Shift Basis (including weekends) please note there are no sleep in shifts required

Department - Adult Service Delivery

Location - Residential Team/ Oxford

What You ll Be Doing:

The Residential?team focuses on providing care, 7 days a week,?for clients in both shared houses and flats, creating a comfortable, safe and pleasant environment while helping residents work towards more independent living in the future.

Overall job responsibility:

Some of the core duties include:

  • supporting, encouraging and prompting residents with their medication.
  • leading and coordinating the shift ensuring that residents are supported accordingly.
  • delegating appropriate responsibilities across the team.
  • taking part in a range of activities during key working sessions with residents whilst helping them to achieve their aspirations.
  • Undertake an enabling role with the resident in daily tasks such as self-care, shopping, budgeting and household tasks that promote independent living.
  • update and maintain records electronically.
  • ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, as well as providing a safe and respectful environment.
  • conduct regular welfare checks and promoting residents to develop their skills and increase their independence.

Essential criteria:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • The understanding of types of mental health illnesses and the level of care some residents may require.
  • An understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Awareness of the local services available to those with mental health needs.
  • Previous experience working within a mental health environment, and providing care for those residents.

You will receive the training and confidence to use core therapeutic talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strength-based Trauma Informed Care and Mutual Aid to provide the best possible support to our clients.
