Children and young people have found it difficult adapting back into school life after the disruption caused by the COVID19 pandemic and as a result require support with reintegration back into school life. We are offering a trained/experienced Mental health specialist the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young children with SEND. This role involves working with children aged 8-16 years at a specialist SEND provision in Coventry. The young people can display challenging behaviour, so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable supporting young people in a dynamic environment.

This position is on an initial temporary basis for the summer term, but with the opportunity to become permanent towards the end of the academic year.

Pay starts at a minimum of £10.96 per hour, with typical working hours being between 8:30am - 15:30pm.

Main responsibilities will include:

Intervening when pupils' mental health requires attention
Reporting back on behaviour to promote best practice
1:1 work ensuring pupils stay on track with the curriculum
The ideal Mental health support worker will be able to demonstrate:

A keen interest in children's mental health
A calm and resilient personality
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in the below areas would be advantageous to your application:

Qualifications/training in Psychology and or Counselling
Qualifications/training in mental health
Support work experience with young people or adults with SEND
Experience providing tailored support to help vulnerable people
Professional/voluntary experience in: residential support, the education sector, the community

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
