About Department 4 East is a 24 bed unit comprising of Cardiothoracic beds and Respiratory beds. 4 East is a dynamic learning environment that will provide you with exposure to a range of advanced medical and surgical nursing skills. The unit cares for post-operative cardiothoracic surgical patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, pacemaker insertion, and a range of thoracic specific surgeries. 4 East provides cardiac monitoring, management of intercostal drainage, temporary cardiac pacing, low dose inotropic support and care for respiratory patients. We encourage staff to obtain their Advance Life Support certificate. 4 East has strong links with The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Cardiology and Coronary Care Units. About the Role As a Registered Nurse you will provide cardiac monitoring, management of intercostal drainage, temporary cardiac pacing, low dose inotropic support and provides care for respiratory patients. Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP11 ($67,236.00 - $89,902.80 per annum - pro rata for part time employees). Duties * Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress * Liaise with patient, patients family, medical and ancillary staff as required or requested * Managing the physical and emotional well-being of the patient * Administration of medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies * Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit Qualifications, Skills and Experience * Completed Bachelor of Nursing Degree * Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA * Current experience in Cardiothoracic, Cardiology or surgical specialties * Post Graduate Qualification in Cardiac or Critical Care, Certificate level or above is highly desirable but not essential * Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Benefits * Salary packaging * Employee Assistance Program * Staff Health Centre * Staff Car Park Application * Please attach your resume and cover letter to your application.
