We are looking for passionate and engaging support workers to provide Specialist Mental Health Mentor support to students in Glasgow from October 2021.
You will work with a caseload of up to 30 students on a one-to-one basis to help them manage any challenges they might face due to their mental health diagnoses, empowering them to achieve their goals and build their independence for the future.

A competitive hourly pay rate of £15 per hour plus £1.81 per hour in holiday payResponsibilities
To manage a caseload of students with diagnosed and emerging mental health issues where you will provide support on a weekly or fortnightly basis, usually face-to-face.
To develop techniques to help students manage anxiety and stress and help develop effective organisation, revision and time management skills.
To provide a level of pastoral support and emotional support to help students access and engage with all aspects of student life.
To support and assist the students on your caseload in crisis situations in line with Safeguarding procedures.
To deliver focused interventions to build confidence and motivate students to attend their timetabled classes and undertake independent study to support them to complete and achieve their course.
Work as part of the Support and Wellbeing team and wider Student Experience Directorate to develop and enhance wellbeing and support services.

You will work closely with Randstad and the college's Mental Health and Wellbeing Team regarding the needs of individual students, ensuring that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. You will be expected to act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times and to follow the relevant signposting or safeguarding procedures where necessary.

Professional experience working with young adultsAs this is a specialist role, it is desirable that you are a member of one of the below professional bodies:
Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP)
The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) - Registered Member (MBACP) or Accredited Member (MBACP - Accred)
British Psychological Society (BPS) - Chartered Member (CPsychol)/IAPT register/ Graduate Member (MBPsS) AND a PG qualification in Psychology or Mental Health.
Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA)
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) - Education and training programmes approved as a route to registration - Arts Therapist/ Occupational Therapist/ Practitioner Psychologist/ Social Worker in England
Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP)
National Counselling Society (NCS) - Accredited Registrants (MNCS Accred) or above
Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - Mental Health Nurse/ Community Mental Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse
Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
Social Care Wales (SCW)
Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
The University Mental Health Advisers Network (UMHAN) - UMHAN mentor member
Association of Christian Counsellors (UK)
Further desirable skills/requirements :
Training in brief interventions.
Experience of supporting individuals in crisis situations and managing severe emotional difficulties
Ability to develop close working relationships with support services both, internal and external to the organisation.
Experience of working within an educational setting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
Excellent IT skills.
