Randstad are looking for experienced care assistants to travel around Glasgow supporting vulnerable adults to retain their independence in their own homes. Pay rates of up to 15 per hour. Community care assistants are not only a source of companionship to adults who may be socially isolated, but also provide vital care that allows them to remain in their own homes. A typical day involves preparing meals, medication administration/ prompts, personal care, going for walks in the community and updating logs. A successful community care assistant will be responsible for:
Providing 1-2-1 support to members within their own homes
Providing personal care such as moving and handling and medication administration but using prompts to promote independence as much as possible as members are still able within own homes to do tasks
Providing much needed emotional support to isolated members who struggling to get out into the community
Working with varying disabilities such as mile dementia, physically impaired, difficulty hearing etc
Can be working split shifts so working early then break in afternoon for a few hours then out for evening shifts
Ensuring clients with care plans are kept up to date and any health issues are reported directly to seniors
Fall assessors are in place to reduce the need for members who have fallen to go back to hospital
Working with members who have also come out of hospital and trying to get back to independent life
To be successful in your community care assistant application, you will:
- Have previous experience working in a care setting with adults
- Have flexibility in the roles undertaken
- Have strong communication skills
- Register under the PVG scheme
- Full driving licence (Essential)
- Obtained SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent (desirable)
